Gujarat Titans (GT) will don a special lavender colored uniform for the match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The match between the teams will take place at the Narendra Modi International Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 13.

The match against Kolkata Knight Riders will be the last home match for the Gujarat Titans in the ongoing Indian Premier League. The team would be interested in making an impact in what will be a special game for them that will highlight the importance of early detection and access to quality care to improve outcomes for cancer patients.

The Gujarat Titans also sported the lavender jersey last year for the same cancer-related cause. The franchise confirmed the development on its social media account and stated that wearing the uniform will show the players’ commitment in the fight against cancer. They declared:

“The Gujarat Titans are taking a stand against cancer and taking the field wearing special lavender jerseys for the second consecutive year. The players will show their commitment to the fight against cancer during their final home game on May 13, 2024. “This gesture will serve as a reminder of the importance of early detection and access to quality care to improve outcomes for cancer patients.”

Gujarat Titans Chief Operating Officer Colonel Arvinder Singh also spoke about his team’s gesture and said that the jersey will be the symbol of their support for cancer patients. He added that the gesture would create a significant difference. He added:

“Cancer affects countless lives, and the lavender t-shirts are a small gesture on our part toward the cause. The t-shirts are a symbol of our support for cancer patients and survivors, and serve as a reminder of the need to take action preventative measures and early diagnosis to win. The battle against cancer, together with our fans, we hope to create a significant difference in the lives of those affected by cancer.”

GT captain Shubman Gill also spoke about the team’s gesture of wearing the lavender jersey and stated that they are aware of the importance of social responsibility as a sportsperson. He believes that with the team’s gesture it will be possible to raise awareness about cancer. He added:

“As athletes, we are aware of our social responsibility to our fans and the community at large. Wearing these lavender t-shirts unites us with cancer fighters and honors their courage. Together, we hope our efforts contribute to a world where the burden Cancer can be overcome through awareness and education.

Gujarat Titans are having a tough time in IPL 2024

Gujarat Titans are going through a tough time in the current Indian Premier League. They are last in the points table and their chances of qualifying for the playoffs seem insurmountable. Although they are still in competition, they seem like the underdogs for this sport.
