GT vs KKR: KKR confirms top two result in IPL 2024 after failure in Ahmedabad

Kolkata Knight Riders, on Monday (May 13), sealed their place in the top two of the IPL 2024 points table after their match against Gujarat Titans was eliminated.

KKR and GT were all set to face each other at the Narendra Modi Stadium. However, the game was abandoned without any balls being bowled due to heavy rain. The failure means GT has become the third team after Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings to be eliminated from IPL 2024.

KKR, on the other hand, strengthened their position at the top of the points table and will now finish in the top two regardless of the result of their last league match. This will give them two chances to reach the final. They will first play in the qualifying phase against the second placed team.

A win will take KKR to the finals. Even if they lose the game, they will have another chance in the finals as they will face the winner of the Playoff in the second Qualifier.

Meanwhile, KKR will look to finish the season at the top of the table. Although KKR have won the IPL twice, they have never managed to finish at the top of the points table and will look to break the jinx this season.

They will face Rajasthan Royals in their last league match. For KKR to fall to second place, RR will have to win the remaining two matches to be able to finish with 20 points, while KKR ends their league stage with 19 points.
