He remained undefeated as he propelled his team to the finish line.
A Gujarat Titans (GT) star put in an outstanding performance, leading the Barbados Royals (BR) to a 9-wicket victory over the Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) in the recent Caribbean Premier League (CPL 2024) playoffs. South African David Miller, who plies his trade with the Gujarat-based franchise in the Indian Premier League (IPL), scored a quickfire unbeaten 50 off just 17 balls, guiding his team to victory.
The match, however, was not without controversy, as the DLS method came into play after a long interruption due to a lighting failure.
New Zealand cricketer Simon Doull, commentating on the match, reminded viewers that 10:52 p.m. local time was the cut-off time for a five-player competition. Despite this, the lights remained unfixed after the deadline, and the game eventually resumed at 11:01 p.m., with the five extra innings going to the Royals, apparently against regulations.

David Miller’s fireworks help Barbados Royals advance to CPL Qualifier
At the time of the floodlight failure, TKR batsman Nicholas Pooran was on the brink of his second consecutive century in CPL 2024, scoring 91 off 60 balls, with TKR at 168/3 in 19.1 overs. The delay lasted more than two hours.
Barbados were set a revised target of 60 runs in five overs. Despite losing opener Quinton de Kock in the first over, Miller came in at number 3, hit a six off his second ball and scored 50 off 17 balls to secure victory with four balls remaining.
The Royals locker room erupted in celebration as Miller’s heroics ensured they booked their place in Qualifier 2, where they will face the loser of the Qualifier 1 clash between the Guyana Amazon Warriors and the Saint Lucia Kings.
