While Jos Buttler will return as the IPL 2025 resume, it is possible that it is not available for playoffs for Gujarat Titans (GT). According to a Newswire report, GT is looking to attack a Sri Lanka batter, Kusal Mendis, as a partial replacement for Buttler.

Mendis is with Quetta Gladiators in the Super League of Pakistan (PSL) 2025, which will resume after a high fire between India and Pakistan will be announced. However, PSL 2025 will end on May 25, and Sri Lanka’s Wicktkeeper batter can fly to India and participate in the playoffs, starting May 29.

Mendis has done reasonably well in the limited possibilities in PSL 2025, accumulating 143 races to an average of 35.75 and an attack rate of 168.23 in five entries. He hit in the fourth and fifth positions in the tournament and obtained only 17 balls to face for average.

While Gujarat’s Titans can replace Jos Buttler with Kusal Mendis, they may not obtain the same consistency and quality. Buttler has formed a solid Top-Three for the Titans with Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan, scoring wide races for the team.

It has 500 races to an average of 71.42 and a strike rate of 163.93 in 11 tickets this season, including five fifty. It has been among the top three that have scored 74.58% of the team races in IPL 2025.
