The ball to Head had a seam of 1.36 degrees, while the average seam on the field has only been around 0.8 degrees.
Talented young pacer Harshit Rana, who made his India debut in the first match of the Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) series in Perth, produced a dream delivery to claim his first Test wicket.
Rana’s first victim in international cricket was the dangerous Australian batsman Travis Head. Harshit bowled a jaffa to edge Head and it was the perfect comeback for the Indian, who had been hit for two boundaries by the Australian in his previous over.
It was a provocatively long delivery and Head was unsure whether to advance or fall behind. The left-hander ended up trapped at the crease, his back foot well back as the ball whizzed past the outside edge due to the movement of the seam and dipped at the top to send the balls flying.
To put it in perspective, the ball to Head had a 1.36-degree seam, while the average on-field seam has only been around 0.8 degrees.

Bowlers lead India’s fightback
Talking about the match, Rana’s wicket further helped the Indian players’ comeback after a lackluster batting performance. Head was the fourth Australian wicket to fall as they were reduced to 31 for 4 in just the 12th over.
Apart from Harshit Rana, India’s stand-in captain Jasprit Bumrah has led the bowling charge from the front, claiming three wickets so far.
Earlier, the Indian batsmen struggled against the Australian pacers and were bowled out for just 150. Debutant Nitish Kumar Reddy was the best performer with a brave 41.
