The former Australia captain Steve Waugh, advised the captain of India, Rohit Sharma, to self -assess before the test series in England. He suggested to Rohit, who will turn 38 this month, will carefully evaluate all aspects before continuing as the patron of India in the next cycle of the World Testing Championship (WTC).
“It depends totally on Him. He is the only one who can solve that problem. He has to see himself in the mirror and say, do I still want to be captain or play for India?” Waugh told Times of India.

The two -time Odi World Cup winner suggested to Rohit to question his commitment to play for the country and the efforts he can make for the team’s success.
“Am I committed? Am I putting enough time and effort? It is a privilege and an honor to play for your country. You can’t be complacent or relax,” he said.
Rohit went through a poor way in the recent series of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) in 2024-25. He managed to put only 31 races in five entries on the Australian floor. The fight with the willow even led him to leave the XI game in the fifth and final test of the series.
