Former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) cricketer Parthiv Patel has given an update on MS Dhoni’s fitness ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. He revealed about his encounter with the wicketkeeper-batsman and said that it is difficult to say if the CSK captain is compatible. suitable or not.
Apart from the excitement of IPL 2024, one thing that has kept many happy is that MS Dhoni will be back in action. The wicketkeeper-batsman will potentially play his season in the league and many are excited to take him on the field once again in the yellow jersey.
But one of the main questions revolving around MS Dhoni is his fitness. The wicketkeeper-batsman had a lot of problems with his knee last year and that forced him to drop down the order. The discomfort also became evident when he also stood and was also seen limping.
MS Dhoni recently underwent knee surgery in Mumbai and was seen batting in the inner nets a few days ago. But it is still unclear whether he has reached match fitness ahead of IPL 2024, which will take place from March in India.
Parthiv Patel, who recently met MS Dhoni, spoke about their meeting and said that they did not talk about cricket. He revealed that they had fun when they went to attend their mutual friend’s wedding. Speaking to TimesNow, he explained:
“We don’t talk about cricket at all. We were there to attend a mutual friend’s wedding. We don’t talk about cricket. And we usually don’t do it unless we’re on the ground and stuff. These are not the times when we talk about cricket. “We were just having fun.”
There is a difference between looking fit and being fit – Parthiv Patel on MS Dhoni
Parthiv Patel further spoke about MS Dhoni’s fitness and pointed out that there is a difference between looking fit and being fit. He believes that the wicketkeeper-batsman’s fitness will be known only when he starts practicing. He added:
“It’s very difficult for anyone to simply say that there is a difference between looking fit and being fit. Maybe you’ll get someone with six-pack abs. But it is possible that he has a knee problem and cannot play. So whether he is fit or not, just once he starts practicing or whether he has started longer or not.”
Parthiv Patel further said that he does not have any additional knowledge about MS Dhoni’s physical condition. But he is sure that if the keeper-batsman has decided to play, he will only do so if he is fit. The express:
“I’ve also seen as much as you guys have seen on social media, some photos right before that. It is very difficult. And yet, IPL still has time left. “So I’m sure that if he has made a decision, whether he has started or not, he will play only if it is appropriate.”
MS Dhoni would hope to end his career on a high. In 2023, he won his fifth title as leader and hopes to win his sixth.
