Young Mumbai batsman Musheer Khan has overtaken Sachin Tendulkar in the Duleep Trophy elite list. The right-handed bowler has overtaken the great batsman in the list of highest scores for a teenager in the domestic tournament and now has only Baba Indrajith and Yash Dhull ahead of him.
Musheer Khan achieved the feat in the ongoing Duleep Trophy 2024 game. Playing for India B, the right-hander set the stage on fire and played an impressive innings on his debut in the tournament, thriving under pressure for his team.
Musheer came to bat at number 3 but did not get the desired support from the top and middle of the order. Wickets at the other end kept falling but the right-hander held his nerves and made sure he stayed there for his team and took them to a big total with his sensational batting effort.
India B were left reeling at 94/7 and it was Musheer Khan who took centre stage and bailed his team out of trouble. He was tested initially but managed to overcome that tricky phase by ensuring he locked down one end for his team with wickets falling.
Once Musheer came in, he made sure to score some quick runs for his team. He soaked up all the pressure and along with Navdeep Saini, frustrated the opposition. The pacer supported him well as the duo put together an unbeaten 100-plus stand to take the team past 200 runs.
Musheer Khan scored a spectacular century on debut, but his hunger for scoring runs did not stop there. The right-hander, after his great performance, made sure to keep going and get as many runs as possible, helping the Indian B team come out on top even after being down at 94/7.
Musheer finished with an innings of 181 runs off 373 balls. The right-hander hit 16 fours and 5 sixes in his innings. His impressive knock ensured that India B surpassed 300 runs and finished with a total of 321 runs on the board, which at one stage seemed impossible.
Musheer Khan registers third-highest score as a teenager in Ranji Trophy
With Musheer registering a score of 181 runs, he now has the third-highest score by a teenager in the 2024 Duleep Trophy. Baba Indrajith remains at the top with his 212 runs, while Yash Dhull is second on the list with 193 runs to his name.
