Nicholas Pooran played an abrasing blow of 70 races of only 26 balls to help Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) to ensure a dominant victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). The former SRH batter, who is hitting at number three this season, disarmed Srh bowling players when LSG comfortably pursued in 191 races in just 16.1 overs in the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.

Pooran hit early, facing the tenth ball of the persecution of LSG in Hyderabad. He did not waste time to attack bowling players, breaking them all parts of the ground.

He reached his fifty in just 18 balls, which made him the third fastest in the history of IPL, while keeping the SRH players under pressure during his stay in the fold.

Pooran reflects on his batting strengths

Speaking after the game, Nicholas Pooran mentioned that he has never worked specifically on his bat speed, attributing him to natural talent. He expressed his happiness for the hard work he has done over the years, stating that he is now paying off in the field and helping his team to win games.

“I’ve never worked at the speed of my bat, I’m blessed with incredible talent,” he said. “I am very happy to have worked over the years and I am getting the reward in the Cricket field and also winning games for my team,” Pooran said.

The team had to choose between Nicholas Pooran or Rishabh Pant for a first -order role. In the end, they decided to let Pooran die at number three, while Pant moved to the average order.

Pant explained after his first victory as LSG captain that the main idea was to allow Pooran to play with total freedom. He recognized Pooran’s ability to cause lower damage to the order, but he felt it was important to give someone the responsibility of leaving and playing aggressively. Pant praised Pooran’s batting, calling him outstanding for the team.

“Mainly the idea was to give him freedom. We know what damage can do in order. I also like that freedom, but you have to give someone who charges and expressing you. The way he has been hitting is phenomenal for us,” Pant said after the game.
