“I avoid looking at the numbers” – Jasprit Bumrah after destroying England to complete 150 Test wickets

India National Cricket Team’s right-arm fast Jasprit Bumrah spoke about his stupendous bowling performance in the second match of the five-match Test series against the Ben Stokes-led England National Cricket Team at the Stadium of Cricket Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA. , Visakhapatnam on Saturday, February 3.

While bowling for India in England’s first innings, Bumrah showed pure class and bamboozled England’s aggressive batting unit. The pacer did not get off to a good start in the match as England openers Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett batted with attacking intent against all the Indian bowlers.

However, as India were slowly being pushed back, Jasprit Bumrah stepped up and brought his team back into the game with his bowling masterclass. Bumrah not only regained the momentum towards India but also completely pushed the Three Lions back, which slowed down his running speed.

Bumrah produced a couple of magical deliveries during his sensational spell and surprised Ollie Pope and Ben Stokes. In total, the pacer picked up 6 wickets in the match and finished his spell with astonishing figures of 6/45.

Speaking after the end of the second day’s play where England finished with 253 runs on the board in their first innings, Jasprit Bumrah spoke about his success mantra which is control over reverse swing. He said:

“You always enjoy when you receive rewards. In India, reverse turning plays an important role. Born in this country, you know how to use it to your advantage. In India, you have to learn to bowl backwards. I grew up watching reverse swing setups, legendary bowlers bowling magical deliveries. Being able to do it now, very happy with that.”

After the Pope was handed over, I had in mind that they would be taking care of the inswinger – Jasprit Bumrah

Bumrah earned praise from many fans and experts for properly preparing the batsmen before taking their wickets. He spoke about the same thing after the end of the day and stated:

“When you play backwards, people try to hit magic pitches every other ball. You have to be patient with that. I have to prepare the hitters. You have to use deliveries wisely. You can’t just bowl in and out, in and out. After Pope’s delivery, he had it in mind that they would be guarding the inswinger.

Jasprit Bumrah also said that he does not focus on milestones but just concentrates on enjoying his game. The pacer believes that thinking about numbers puts the player under pressure. Jasprit Bumrah said:

“I was attentive to what the hitters were looking to do. Very happy. He tries to avoid looking at the numbers. When you do that, you create pressure and you don’t have fun.”

Notably, Jasprit Bumrah has become the Indian pacer with the best bowling figures at home in this century. Furthermore, he is the pacer with the second-best bowling average in the history of Test cricket for a player with more than 150 wickets in the purest format of cricket. He is only behind Syd Barnes (16.43) and has an average from 20.28.
