He was in India’s preparatory camp before the first Test against Bangladesh in Chennai, where he took out Virat Kohli.
A 17-year-old pacer recalled his time when he dismissed Virat Kohli with a delivery in the nets, only to receive a cold stare from the legendary batsman. The bowler bowled magnificently in the recently concluded Ranji Trophy match to help his team win the contest on his Ranji Trophy debut.
Tamil Nadu left-arm pacer Gurjapneet Singh took six wickets in the second innings during the game between Tamil Nadu and Saurashtra at the SNR College Cricket Ground in Coimbatore. His sensational spell helped Tamil Nadu register a resounding one-innings, 70-run victory over Saurashtra.

Gurjapneet Singh was in India’s preparatory camp ahead of the first Test against Bangladesh in Chennai, where he took out Virat Kohli. He revealed that Kohli got very angry with himself while coming out and played good shots against the same bowler.
“After I bowled it, I looked at it and didn’t dare look at it again. I was very, very angry. But I realized he was angry with himself more than anything. And after a straight ride, he looked at me again and smiled,” Gurjapneet exclaimed to The Indian Express.
Virat Kohli’s advice to Gurjapneet Singh after net session
Gurjapneet later revealed that after the net session, Kohli spent some time providing valuable feedback to the young bowler. Kohli asked him to go around the wicket when there was no movement as it would bother the batsmen more than over the wicket.
“He (Kohli) told me, when there is no movement, change the angle and try to bowl around the wicket. Because at that angle, even if you manage to make a slight movement, it will end up bothering most hitters.”
Kohli’s advice worked wonders for Gurjapneet, who followed the same pattern during the match against Saurashtra by turning the wicket, especially against Cheteshwar Pujara, on Sunday. First he threw a bouncer at her before filling up a little more.
Finally, he tipped one towards Pujara, and the ball drifted slightly away to square Pujara and give him LBW for a duck. It was a memorable debut by one of the most exciting pacers and Gurjapneet will be hoping to maintain the consistency in the upcoming games.
