Former India cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar has spoken about Virat Kohli’s dismissal in the second innings of the ongoing first Test match against the Bangladesh national cricket team. He said that the batsman wanted to save the reviews and was not aware that he had struck a boundary.
Virat Kohli suffered a rare dismissal in the second innings of the first Test against Bangladesh. The right-handed bowler had only himself to blame as he had a chance to save his wicket by taking the DRS but failed to do so as he walked back to the pavilion just before the stumps on Day 2.
Virat Kohli came out to bat when Yashasvi Jaiswal lost his wicket for 10 runs. The veteran Indian batsman looked comfortable at the crease from the start as he corrected the mistake he made in the first innings. The batsman left the balls out quite well and defended the ball solidly.
Virat Kohli looked set for a big knock before he was caught lbw by Mehidy Hasan Miraz. The off-spinner bowled a full ball which the India batsman attempted to play through the on-side, and it looked like he was out-stumped on the inside edge as the ball hit the front pad adjacent to the off-stump.
It seemed like everything was going well from the start and the umpire raised his finger. Shubman Gill, who was on the non-batsman’s side, told Virat Kohli to review the play but the veteran batsman did not agree. He kept his head down and walked back to the pavilion, quite disappointed, especially with the way he was bowled out for 27 runs.
As I went up, the ultra edge showed that there was a large spVirat Kohli had no idea that he had stolen the ball and when it was later shown on the big screen, the crowd and members of the Indian team looked disappointed.
Sanjay Manjrekar sympathized with Virat Kohli and said that the batsman thought he had not hit the ball. He believes that the veteran batsman wanted to save the criticism for his team and hence, despite being encouraged by Shubman Gill, he did not take it. Taking to his Twitter account, he explained:
“I felt bad for Virat today. He obviously didn’t think he had hit it. He just wanted to know if the ball was hitting the stumps. Despite Gill encouraging him to take the review anyway, he walked off dejected, wanting to keep all 3 reviews for his team.”

He is a player with strengths and zero weaknesses – Sanjay Manjrekar on Jasprit Bumrah
Sanjay Manjrekar also praised Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah. While he praised the quick as the champion bowler, he mentioned that the fast bowler is a bowler with no weaknesses. He explained:
“Is there anything else to say about Bumrah as a champion bowler? Well, today I realised that he is a player with only virtues and zero weaknesses. I guess that is the ultimate yardstick to measure greatness.”

Jasprit Bumrah was the main architect of India defeating the Bangladesh national cricket team by just 149 runs in the first innings. He picked up four wickets and returned with figures of 4/50 in the 11 overs he bowled.
