“We just have to see them (Rohit and Virat) there. It’s about his hunger. Are they hungry to go there and win the T20 World Cup? I think so. I can’t speak for them, but I think they’ll want to go there and win. The T20 World Cup is a short tournament and you guys are gearing up to have another chance to win a World Cup. So I see them going there.”
There were reports suggesting that Rohit Sharma will play in the T20 World Cup 2024 and will even captain the team. He categorically told the selectors to take decisions about his future and the BCCI wanted him to take charge.
On the other hand, there were other reports suggesting that Virat Kohli is not in the plans for the tournament. India captained by Suryakumar Yadav is a pretty good move – AB de Villiers
AB de Villiers further spoke about Suryakumar Yadav leading the Indian team in the T20I series against South Africa. He was delighted with the development and said it would be nice to see him lead the team. He elaborated:
“India captained by Suryakumar Yadav is a pretty good move, I like it. He is a 360 degree player. He thinks differently and is a little creative. It will be nice to see him leading his troops in South Africa.”
AB de Villiers also spoke about the India and South Africa teams for the upcoming T20I series. He highlighted that the selectors of both boards have selected young players to see how they handle pressure. He explained:
“What I liked about both teams was that the players were rewarded for their national performances. The Indian team has played who have done well in the IPL, and the South African team has those who had a great SA20 season. The selectors have gone to these players to see how they handle the pressure ahead of next year’s T20 World Cup. Very excited.”
The first T20I will be played between the two teams Sunday December 10 in Kingsmead, Durban.
