Virat Kohli is from another planet: R Sridhar
Recently, former Team India fielding coach R Sridhar spoke about a message shared by Virat Kohli, emphasizing the importance of giving your all in every aspect of life, no matter how small.
Sridhar believes there is a lot to learn from Virat Kohli’s approach, but unfortunately, not everyone can harness this mindset in their own lives.
He further revealed that he often joked with Virat Kohli about his superhuman energy and wondered if he was from another planet, like Krypton. Sridhar said that Kohli’s tireless drive and energy is extraordinary and deeply inspiring.
Sridhar said on Anubhav Talks, “It’s just a very small part of your life, so what’s the point of not giving it your all?” That’s what he said recently in an interview. There’s a lot to learn from it. It’s unfortunate that not many can try to draw inspiration from it and use that model in their own personal lives.
He’s from another planet. I would ask him sometimes when he was with the crew, “Have you tried kryptonite or something?” He would always reply with a smile, “Are you from Krypton? Are you sure you’re not from Earth?” Where does that energy come from? He would always smile. It’s amazing. What an inspiration.”
Opponents fear provoking Kohli, says Sridhar
Meanwhile, the former India fielding coach highlighted how Kohli thrives under pressure, especially when someone doubts him or mocks him.
Sridhar further noted that Kohli’s performance is exceptional in such situations, to the extent that opponents prefer to avoid provoking him.
He said opposing teams often choose to let Kohli play his game rather than take him on, knowing that any confrontation could lead to the right-hander dominating the match so decisively that they would find it difficult to recover.
Sridhar concluded by saying, “He acts in any way, at any time. But it is a well-documented fact that he acts well, especially when he is doubted, joked about or someone says something about him.
That’s why, when you’re on the opponent’s field, every team says one thing: “Please leave him alone. Let him come, let him crush us, no problem. Just don’t argue with him or harass him. Otherwise, he’ll beat us to the point where we won’t even be able to turn the match around.”
Kohli was recently seen in action in the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka where the Men in Blue suffered a 0-2 series defeat to the hosts.
He will now be seen in action in the upcoming two-match Test series against Bangladesh, which begins on September 19 in Chennai.
