Sachin Tendulkar is undoubtedly the greatest batsman to ever grace the game of cricket. The former Indian captain is known as the ‘God of Cricket’, which in itself speaks volumes about his stature in world cricket. Be it in India or elsewhere in the world, he is viewed with utmost respect.

Cricket’s popularity in India is mainly due to Sachin Tendulkar and the impact he has had. The Indian batsman has been an idol for many, both in India and in other countries where the sport is popular, and has shown several players how to approach their game.

One of the main reasons behind the Indian National Cricket Team’s dominance in world cricket was Sachin Tendulkar. The opening batsman hardly had any blemishes in his game and it is fair to say that the game of cricket has never seen a batsman as consistent as him during his playing days.

One of the highlights of his career was his longevity. Sachin represented India for 24 long years and took the team to great heights, making it one of the most dominant forces in world cricket. He ended his career with a World Cup to his name, which was the final nail in the coffin for him.

In his illustrious 24-year career, Sachin Tendulkar scored 34,357 runs across all formats, along with 100 hundreds. The 2011 World Cup winner etched his name in almost all the record books. Some of the records he created are yet to be surpassed and seem out of reach for many who are there.

While Sachin Tendulkar’s greatness is not defined, former West Indies cricketer Ian Bishop has termed the great batsman as the best player he has ever played against. The cricketer-turned-commentator said this while speaking to Sky Sports on Thursday (July 18).
