ICC Champions Trophy 2025: BCCI’s ICC revenue share questioned from Pakistan

Former Pakistan cricketer Rashid Latif wants the International Cricket Council (ICC) to give more revenue to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). This comes at a crucial time when BCCI and PCB are fighting for the venue of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

Latif shared a graph of the last cycle of the ICC Financial Model that involved all member countries and their respective actions.

In the graph, India has the highest share percentage with a mammoth 38.50%. On the other hand, no other member country has even a 7% share. The fact that the most revenue is generated in India makes sense that India also makes the most.

Rashid Latif accepted this fact and had no problem with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) getting the most share. However, he was not satisfied with Pakistan’s 5.75% share and asked for it to be increased.

Rashid Latif calls for more revenue for Pakistan in ICC financial model

While sharing the graphic of ICC financial model 2024-27, Rashid Latif called for more shares for Pakistan. During his post, Latif also spoke about the equality that PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has been talking about recently.

Rashid Latif stated that if the Champions Trophy final between Pakistan and India is played in Dubai, then the India-Pakistan final of the T20 World Cup 2026 should be played in Colombo. It should be noted that the 2026 T20 World Cup is scheduled to be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka.

“Revenue and place between 2025 and 2027 are important for both PCB and BCCI. BCCI deserves 38.5%, but PCB also deserves more than 5.75%,” Latif posted on X (formerly Twitter).

“Hypothetically, if the Pakistan-India Champions Trophy final can be played in Dubai, the India-Pakistan T20WC 2026 final can also be played in Colombo. This parity and equal treatment Mohsin Naqvi has been fighting for!” added the publication.

Will the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 be played in the hybrid model?

The ICC Champions Trophy 2025, to be held in Pakistan, is facing major concerns due to India’s reluctance to travel to the country. The BCCI has already made it clear that they cannot send their team to Pakistan due to their government’s refusal.

The Indian board wants the tournament to be played in a hybrid model and the ICC has been trying to convince the PCB. However, the PCB has made it clear that it will not allow the tournament to be held outside Pakistan.

Pakistan has reportedly stated that they too will not travel to India to participate in any more tournaments and want those tournaments to be played in a hybrid model as well. However, the Champions Trophy dilemma is likely to be resolved in a few days and a final schedule announced.
