“The dream is always to play for the country” – Karun Nair
Karun Nair spoke about his dream of playing international cricket for India and wants to focus on every innings. You want to do everything within your control and you don’t want to think too much about the future.
“The dream is always to play for the country. So, yes, the dream is still alive. That’s the reason we play this game, to play for your country. So, the only goal was to play for the country.” Karun was quoted by PTI.
“I think this is my third comeback (laughs). And I need to keep doing what I’m doing right now. Keep scoring runs whenever I can in every game I play. That’s the most I can do. Everything else is not under my control,” he added.
“But until it (selection) happens, it’s just a dream. It’s not here yet. But again, like I said, I would like to focus on one innings at a time,” the Vidarbha batsman revealed.
“I haven’t done anything different” – Karun Nair
Karun Nair was further asked about the things he had changed to improve his performance. He responded that only hard work had brought him to this situation and that he had done nothing differently. He always believed in it and wanted to be in a positive frame of mind.
“I haven’t done anything different. There’s no secret. I think it’s just years of hard work and perseverance, you know, putting it all together. And you can probably say, taking each day as a new one and making sure I respect every input I make.” game,” Karun said.
When he was in bad shape, he started from scratch and worked hard again. He also talked about having a positive thought process even when he was not in good shape with the bat.
“I’ll be lying if I say I wasn’t afraid. I think anyone would have those feelings. But I never thought my career would end. I just thought where it’s going. What am I doing? How? Has this happened?” Karun pointed out.
“It takes a while to get out of that phase and understand what’s happening and then what you’re supposed to do. So, I told myself I had to start from scratch again. And give myself a few years and see where it goes. And then I can decide what to do. So that was my thought process,” he explained.
