Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has finally broken his silence on all matters related to the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

Mohsin Naqvi’s recent comments also hint that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has accepted the hybrid model proposed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for the 2025 Champions Trophy.

Pakistan put forward some demands to accept- Reports

According to the latest reports in the Indian media, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has put forward some demands to accept the hybrid model.

This was a breakthrough as the PCB came out with a soft stance, which was a big change as they had earlier threatened to withdraw from the tournament if all the matches of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 were not played in Pakistan.

Pakistan has reportedly demanded that the hybrid model format be adopted in all ICC events in India till 2031, which is why the Pakistan team will not visit India for four ICC competitions. Apart from this, PCB also demanded financial benefits – an increase in its annual share of ICC’s revenue by 5.75 per cent.

Speaking to reporters after the Under-19 Asia Cup match between India and Pakistan at the Dubai International Stadium on Saturday, Mohsin Naqvi said that they want to find a win-win solution where cricket emerges as the winner. He said:

“There is a lot going on right now and I want to make sure that nothing I say jeopardizes the ongoing process. We have presented our perspective and India has shared its. Everyone involved is working hard to find a mutually beneficial solution.” everyone and, “Above all, ensure that cricket emerges as the real winner. “The most important aspect is to resolve matters in a way that allows everyone to move forward with their pride intact.”

Mohsin Naqvi was directly asked if the Pakistan Cricket Board had accepted the hybrid model, to which he replied that they will adopt a formula that will put all parties on an equal footing.

“We will take the best measures for the game of cricket. Whatever formula we decide on, not hybrid, will ensure a level playing field for all parties involved,” he said.

Naqvi, however, stated that Pakistan’s pride is very important to them and assured that the final decision taken in this regard will not harm it. He said:

“There are many considerations at play, but at the end of the day, our focus remains on ensuring that cricket emerges as the real winner. What is paramount here is the pride of Pakistan. Inshaallah, we are committed to protecting the prestige of Pakistan and the at the same time ensure the game prospers.”

My endeavor has always been to end the unilateral approach – Mohsin Naqvi

Mohsin Naqvi further sent a direct message to the ICC, demanding an end to the unilateral approach under which India does not travel to Pakistan but Pakistan visits India in every ICC tournament. He elaborated:

“My effort has always been to put an end to the unilateral approach, whereby we travel to India, but they do not reciprocate. Everything that happens now is aimed at resolving this once and for all, fixing it forever. Whatever it is The outcome will ensure equality for all parties involved. That is my promise.”

Mohsin Naqvi further said that the decision taken this time in the ICC meeting will not only be about the Champions Trophy but will be long term. He stated:

“I can assure you that the solution we arrive at will be long-term, not just for the Champions Trophy. It will address future challenges and lay the foundations for what comes in the years to come.”
