Former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh praised Australian batsman Travis Head for his brilliant hundred on day 1 of the World Test Championship (WTC) final at The Oval on Wednesday June 7. harbhajan singh said Travis Head played a counter-attacking innings after the three-wicket drop.
Travis Head came to the crease as Australia were in trouble with a score of 76-3. The left-handed batsman put pressure on the Indian bowlers by scoring runs at a fast pace. The left-footer entered his first century against India with just 106 balls. He finished the day with an unbeaten 146 runs from 156 balls.

In a video shared on his YouTube channel, Harbhajan Singh said that the Indian bowlers failed to capitalize on Travis Head’s weakness against short pitched balls early in their innings.
“At one point Australia were 72-3 and it looked like India was in the competition, but Head became a pain in the ass after that. He hit in his typical way, countered brilliantly. Indian bowlers did not bowl to any wicketkeeper from the start which is the well known weakness of him. Bowlers began bowling for him when he was ninety years old. Harbhajan said.

“The first day was disappointing for India. Steve Smith also hit very well. For India to return to this contest, they will have to launch it more comprehensive. Anderson and Broad get wickets here getting the batsmen to drive. Australia still has a lot of batting to come with Green and Carey to come.” added.

I could have bowled more on day 1 – Harbhajan Singh
Harbhajan Singh believes that India must restrict Australia to a total of around 450 innings in the first innings to get back into the contest. He said the new balls will be crucial for India to get early wickets on Day 2.
“India will have to make the new ball count. India should also trust Ravindra Jadeja more. I thought I could have bowled more on day 1.” he further said.
“When Australia finally finish their innings, India shouldn’t feel discouraged because they scored 450-500 runs. If they can, you can too. If India holds Australia below 450 in the first innings, then the game is on.” He concluded.
India took a second new ball in the 81st but were unable to lift a wicket late in the day. Steve Smith and Travis Head traded the swing to finish the day without missing a wicket in the final session.
