“If they are fit…” – Ashish Nehra backs Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to play T20 World Cup 2024

Former Indian cricketer Ashish Nehra has backed Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to play in the T20 World Cup 2024. He said that if they are fit their form should not be talked about as they will be in the team no matter what.

The road to the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 for the Indian cricket team has begun. The Men in Blue are currently facing Australia in the five-match T20I series. Since the last one year, BCCI has provided ample opportunities to the young players of the T20 team as they try to create the core.

The youngsters have made good use of the opportunities and the big question remains: Will India persist with the same young team or not? Also, the big question that has many in suspense is whether Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will make it into the squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup or not.

The duo have not played a single T20I since the last T20 World Cup and there is no clarity on whether they will be there or not. Many experts and fans have shared their opinion on the matter and the latest to join the bandwagon is Ashish Nehra.

Ashish Nehra believes that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will definitely play in the T20 World Cup 2024 if they are fit. Speaking to Jio Cinema, he explained:

“Someone like Rohit Sharma. Someone like Virat Kohli. If they are fit, we don’t need to discuss their form. “They will definitely be there in the Caribbean and the United States.”

I don’t know about captaincy – Ashish Nehra

Ashish Nehra also gave his opinion on who should be India’s captain for the T20 World Cup 2024. He highlighted Hardik Pandya’s injury and said that it will be difficult to give him the captaincy after his injury.

“I don’t know about captaincy, there is still time. It is also complicated for the selectors. Hardik Pandya is also injured and it will be interesting to watch when he returns to the Indian team. If Hardik Pandya plays properly in the IPL, it will be difficult for any selection committee.”

Earlier there were reports suggesting that Rohit Sharma will captain the Indian team in the T20 World Cup 2024. The selectors are eager to have him in the team as a leader.
