India head coach Rahul Dravid spoke about coaching his son Samit. The former Indian captain said that he is trying to remain just a father and even then he doesn’t know what he is doing.

Rahul Dravid’s son Samit has been doing the rounds for his exceptional performances in junior level cricket. The 18-year-old son of the Indian coach has made a big name for himself in Karnataka cricket and does equally well with the bat and the ball.

Samit Dravid, who batted in the top order, has played a very important role in leading Karnataka to the final of the Cooch Beher Trophy. The all-rounder scored 370 runs in 7 games at an average of 37.78 and also scored three half-centuries.

Apart from this, fast bowler Samit Dravid has also picked three wickets in the competition. The SUV has only been carefully observed by his father. Many are touting him as young Rahul Dravid and if he is taken care of well, he can do wonders.

After the first T20I between India and Afghanistan, Rahul Dravid interacted with Jio Cinema broadcasters. Suresh Raina asked him about his son. Rahul Dravid admitted that he doesn’t try to coach his son because being a father and coaching is difficult. He elaborated:

“I’m not even trying to coach Samit… It’s tough for both the parents and the coach. Both a parent and a coach are tough. I’m trying to remain a parent. I don’t know what I’m doing in that too.” ,).”

Rahul Dravid is currently part of the Indian squad for the ongoing T20I series against Afghanistan. Under him, the team won the first game by a margin of 6 wickets and took an early lead in the series.

Rahul Dravid is expected to continue with the team at least until the T20 World Cup 2024. His tenure as coach ended after the ICC World Cup 2023, but he was reappointed by the BCCI and he has been with the team since then. There has been no clarity on how long he will be there.

IND vs AFG: Players like Rinku, Jaiswal and Tilak have also come in – Rahul Dravid amazed by the young players

Indian head coach Rahul Dravid recently praised the young left-handers of the Indian T20I. He was in awe of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rinku Singh and Tilak Varma, and stated that they added a good string to the bow.

Rahul Dravid, however, mentioned that they do not select teams based on the player being left-handed. He joked that they needed to perform to be selected. He explained:

“Players like Rinku, Jaiswal and Tilak have also arrived, which adds a good string to the bow. But in the end, we make the selection based on performance, not just the left or right hitter.

“We still have lefties in the lineup. But it’s not just about left-handers, it’s about their ability to play for a period and be able to deal with the different types of spin that exist.”

The second match between India and Afghanistan will be played in Indore on January 14. The hosts would hope to seal the series.
