Indian national cricket team all-rounder Shivam Dube once again showed his all-round class in the blue jersey. Shivam Dube produced an excellent performance for India in the second T20I of the three-match series against the Afghanistan national cricket team at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore on Sunday, January 14.

The 30-year-old all-rounder won the Man of the Match award in the first T20I against the Afghanistan national cricket team in Mohali and continued his form in the second match. In the first game, he bagged one wicket and scored an unbeaten 60 runs to help India win.

Also in the second match, Shivam Dube bagged one wicket and scored 63 runs off 32 balls, with 5 fours and 4 sixes, to guide India to a 6-wicket victory. With the victory, India took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series.

Meanwhile, Shivam Dube showed his batting power during his batting masterclass against Afghanistan, but his finest hour came when he destroyed veteran all-rounder Mohammad Nabi in the 10th over of the second innings.

Yashasvi Jaiswal gave the strike to Dube after taking a single on the first ball of the over and then Shivam Dube smashed three consecutive monster sixes to frustrate the big Afghan.

On the second ball, he came down the track and hit the ball long on for a six. On the next delivery, he played a conventional sweep over deep mid-wicket. He then completed the hat-trick of sixes by smashing the next full delivery to the max.

The skipper is very happy with my performance – Shivam Dube on Rohit Sharma

After the match ended, Shivam Dube spoke to the host broadcaster and talked about various topics. He revealed that Rohit Sharma is quite happy with his performance. He stated:

“The captain is very happy with my performance, he told me that I played well. (On Jaiswal) We are both stroke players, we know our game.”

The all-rounder revealed that his role in the team is to take on the spinners and has worked hard on his T20 game. He stated:

“My role was to take on the spinners, but our plan was to attack and end the game early. There was no goal in mind, but we should have finished the match earlier. “There are a lot of things I have worked on, apart from skill, it is about how you mentally prepare for the T20 game.”

Dube further stated that he has also been working hard on his bowling and was delighted that it has worked out at the international level. He stated:

“How to handle pressure and decide which players to face. It is not important to hit all the balls. I’ve also been working on my bowling, happy it worked in the first game, but not so much today. But that’s T20 cricket.”

If Dube continues his form, he could make India’s squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, which will be played in the West Indies and the United States.
