Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has shared his views on the battle between Virat Kohli and Steve Smith during the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Glenn Maxwell described Virat Kohli and Steve Smith as two of the best players of this generation and added that it is very exciting to watch them.

India and Australia will play the five-match Test series later this year. The first Test match will be held in Perth, starting from November 22.

Adelaide will host the day and night fixtures of the series. The final three matches of the series will be played in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney respectively.

Australia will be hoping to end their losing streak against India in Test matches on home soil. The Australian team has not won a Test series against India since the 2014-15 series.

Notably, India have won four consecutive Border-Gavaskar Trophies, including two historic victories on Australian soil.

In a video shared by Star Sports on X (formerly known as Twitter), Glenn Maxwell stated that one of Virat Kohli or Steve Smith is likely to score big in the 2024-25 BGT series, if not both.

Glenn Maxwell said it will be an exciting series to watch as they showcase their dominance.

“I think probably the way the two superstar batsmen, I think Steve Smith and Virat Kohli, Probably face to face, seeing how his dominance, I suppose, is asserted in the series, “And how much influence that has on who takes home the Border Gavaskar Trophy,” Glenn Maxwell said.

“Believe One of those two is going to do a lot of racing, if not both, and it’s going to be… “It’s very exciting to see two of the best players of our generation go head to head,” he added.

Steve Smith and Virat Kohli are the best players in their teams. Kohli has an impressive record in Australia, with 1,352 runs in 13 Tests at an average of 54.08, including six centuries.

Smith, on the other hand, has amassed 2,042 Test runs against India at an average of 65.87, including nine centuries.

Smith has scored 9,685 runs in 109 Tests at an average of 56.97 with 32 centuries and 41 half-centuries.

Meanwhile, Virat has scored 8,848 runs in 113 Tests at an average of 49.16 with 29 centuries and 30 half-centuries. Both players are crucial for their teams in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.

Steve Smith recently spoke about his friendship with Virat Kohli. Smith praised Kohli as an excellent player and a great person. He expressed his excitement to face Kohli again in the upcoming series.

“We get on pretty well, we exchange messages from time to time. He’s a great guy and obviously a wonderful player. So it will be good to play him again this summer,” Smith told Star Sports.
