Indian national cricket team wicket-keeper batsman Ishan Kishan might soon make a comeback to the national team in the T20I format. As per PTI reports, it is learnt that the left-hander is likely to be included in the squad for the three-match T20I series against the Bangladesh national cricket team.

After the Test series against the Bangladesh national cricket team, both teams will face each other in a three-match T20I series. The first match of the series will be played on October 7 in Gwalior, followed by the second match to be played in Delhi on October 10, and the last match will be played on October 13 in Hyderabad.

With a very small gap between the Bangladesh Test and T20I series and the New Zealand Test series, it is known that players who are part of the Test setup are likely to be rested. There are reports claiming that Rishabh Pant could also be given a rest as per workload management requirements.

It is known that if Rishabh Pant is rested for the T20I series against the Bangladesh National Cricket Team, the doors might open for Ishan Kishan. The wicketkeeper-batsman played his last international match for the Indian National Cricket Team during the tour of South Africa.

Ishan Kishan, who was a regular member of the Indian team in all three formats in 2023, claimed mental fatigue and pulled out of the Test series against South Africa, which was played in December last year. Following that, then head coach Rahul Dravid asked him to take part in the domestic circuit to get back into the team.

Despite BCCI and Rahul Dravid’s request, Ishan Kishan did not agree and continued to play counter-attacking, which did not go down well with the governing body. They decided to take strict action against the wicketkeeper-batsman as he was not given a chance to play for the team again.

The BCCI removed Ishan Kishan from central contracts. The wicketkeeper-batsman then returned to cricket in the Indian Premier League. But even after that, he did not play for his national team and stayed away from the game.

Ishan Kishan makes sensational return to domestic cricket

However, he was warned by senior selectors that he might miss the chance to play against India in his prime. He then made a stunning comeback to cricket when he represented Jharkhand in the Buchi Babu tournament and scored a glorious century on his return.

After that, he returned to the 2024 Duleep Trophy in the second round as well. The wicketkeeper-batsman, while playing for India C, hit another sensational ton. He finished with an innings of 111 runs off 123 balls and also hit 14 fours and 3 sixes in his innings.

Kishan’s return to domestic cricket with a dominant performance might have raised doubts among the selectors. It remains to be seen whether he will make a comeback in the Indian team or not.
