Bangladesh national cricket team captain Najmul Hossain Shanto has issued a warning to the Indian national cricket team ahead of the two-match Test series between the teams. The left-hander boldly remarked that he would aim to win both games of the series.

The Indian national cricket team is all set to host the Bangladesh national cricket team in the two-match Test series. The two-match series between the teams will begin on September 19 in Chennai and after that, the second game between the teams will be played from September 27 in Kanpur.

Najmul Hossain’s team will arrive in India on Sunday (September 15) and will have a few days to get used to the conditions. The Bangladesh team will come into the series after a good training session at home and will be very confident, especially given the result they had in the last series.

Under the leadership of Najmul Hossain Shanto, the Bangladesh national cricket team defeated Pakistan on their home turf. They defeated the Shan Masood-led team by a margin of 2-0 and they want to achieve the same result in this series as well.

Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto is also aiming to win both matches against India but understands that the process is important for them and they will do their job properly. Speaking to The Daily Star at the airport, he explained:

“We will play to win both games. What matters in order to win is the process… We will try to do the job well. It is possible to get good results if we do our job well.”

Our aim is to play well for five days – Najmul Hossain Shanto

The Test series between India and Bangladesh will also be a part of the ICC World Test Championship. While the Rohit Sharma-led team sits at the top of the points table, the Najmul Hossain Shanto-led team is fourth in the table.

Najmul Hossain Shanto is not too worried about India coming out on top as he admits that they have been playing some good cricket of late and their main aim against India will be to do well in the five-day Test. He believes that if they do that, they will have a great chance of winning. He added:

“If you look at the standings, they are way ahead of us. We have been playing well of late. We have had a good series. Our target is to play well for five days. The result will be known in the last session on the final day. If we play good cricket for five days, there is a chance that either team has a chance of winning in the final session.”

The last time India and Bangladesh met in the Test series was in December 2022. It was a closely contested series for both teams but it was the Rohit Sharma-led side that managed to win the series by a 2-0 margin.
