Pragyan Ojha picks the players who can replace Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli

Speaking to news agency IANS, Pragyan Ojha was asked about the players who can follow in the footsteps of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Ojha mentioned Rishabh Pant, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill, who can be the possible replacements for these legends.

“I think there are a lot of players. If we talk about senior players, I am very happy that Rishabh Pant has returned as he is someone who has made his mark in Test cricket and the knocks he has played, I really hope to see him return. Along with him, there are Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill,” Ojha said.

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill have had brilliant starts to their respective careers and have already proved their talent. Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant has been on the scene for some time now. He suffered a life-threatening accident in December 2022 but has now fully recovered and is raring to go.

Meanwhile, Pragyan Ojha also praised Dhruv Jurel for his fantastic start to his international career. He was also impressed with rookie fast bowler Akash Deep, who has played only a solitary Test but impressed by picking up 3 wickets with the new ball.

“These are the players I am really looking forward to. Dhruv Jurel is also a player whose performance and attitude are fearless. I am very happy that all these players have taken the team forward. If we talk about bowling, Akash Deep has been very impressive. I would like to see how these players progress,” he added.

Pragyan Ojha talks about Gautam Gambhir as head coach

When asked about Gautam Gambhir as India’s head coach, Ojha felt that Gambhir would bring clarity to the thought process and stated that such clear communication is necessary at this level.

“He is a champion as a player. His thoughts will be very clear. He will say whatever he wants to say. The communication will be very direct and very clear. When you are on national team duty, as a player, as an individual who makes decisions, you need clarity. Gautam Gambhir will give you that,” the former left-hander said.

Gautam Gambhir’s stint as India’s head coach began with India’s white-ball tour of Sri Lanka. The tour had mixed results for the Men in Blue as they won the T20I series but lost the ODI series.

But the real test for Gambhir begins now as India embark on a hectic Test season consisting of 10 Tests against three teams. India will be hoping to dominate these Tests to continue their qualification for the World Test Championship (WTC) final to be played next year.
