Young Indian batsmen Dhruv Jurel and Sarfaraz Khan have praised ace batting player Virat Kohli ahead of the two-match Test series against Bangladesh. Dhruv Jurel and Sarfaraz Khan described Virat Kohli as a legend of the game ahead of the Test series, which is part of the World Test Championship (WTC).
Virat Kohli is considered one of the best batsmen in modern cricket. This right-handed batsman has a fan following all over the world, including his teammates and fellow cricketers. Kohli recently announced his retirement from T20Is after leading the team to victory in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
The 35-year-old cricketer was last seen in action during the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka last month. He was rested from the Duleep Trophy to avoid injury ahead of the busy international season. Virat will be back in action during the upcoming two-match Test series against Bangladesh.
You always feel special around Virat Kohli – Dhruv Jurel
Speaking to Jio Cinema, Dhruv Jurel said that Kohli makes his presence felt in the dressing room. Jurel described Kohli as a legend and added that legends do something different which makes them special.
“Virat Kohli bhaiya has a special aura. Whenever he is around, you feel his aura. You always feel special around him. He is a legend of the game. There must be something that legends do differently that makes them special,” Jurel said.
Dhruv Jurel made his international debut during the five-match Test series against England earlier this year. The wicket-keeper batsman has scored 190 runs in three Tests at an average of 63.33, with a best score of 90. He will compete with Rishabh Pant for a place in the starting XI for the first Test.
Virat Kohli’s courage and willpower are astonishing – Sarfaraz Khan
Middle-order batsman Sarfaraz Khan praised Kohli for his passion, love and dedication to cricket. Khan highlighted Kohli’s sheer willpower and determination and admired his confidence and ability to take on challenges.
“Virat Kohli Bhaiya’s passion, love and dedication for the game is something else. And I admire him a lot. He always says that he will make it, that he will take on this bowler. His courage, his willpower is unbelievable,” Sarfaraz Khan said.
Sarfaraz Khan also made his international debut during the home Test series against England. The batsman was included in India’s squad for the first Test against Bangladesh. However, he did not join the preparation camp as the selectors named him for the second match of the 2024 Duleep Trophy.
KL Rahul is likely to be preferred over Sarfaraz in the starting XI for the series opener, which is scheduled to be played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, starting Thursday, September 19. The Indian national cricket team will be hoping to continue its dominance in home Test matches.
