Indian national cricket team batsman Virat Kohli is going all out to prepare for the upcoming two-match Test series against the Bangladesh national cricket team. The series between the two teams will begin on September 19 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
Kohli will be one of the key factors for the Indian team in the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh. This will be the first time he has featured for the team in the longest format of the game since he played against the South African National Cricket Team in the Test series in January earlier this year.
On Monday (September 16), Kohli took part in an intense net session. The top-order batsman faced fast bowlers in the nets and left no stone unturned in his preparation. As per reports in Sportstar, it is learnt that the batsman was put through his paces by Jasprit Bumrah’s wide range of overs.
Reports claimed that Bumrah moved the ball both ways of the net against Kohli, who confidently dodged most of the balls. The batsman, however, did not even attempt to attack the bowling maestro as he preferred to block and leave the ball.
During the session, Jasprit Bumrah outsmarted Virat Kohli as the ball came quickly and took a swing at him. The batsman tried to flick as the ball hit him on the pads. This surprised the fast bowler as he went up and celebrated the batsman’s imaginary wicket.
As Bumrah walked back to the track, he called for the DRS. But Virat Kohli did not agree with the fast bowler taking a catch as he gestured to indicate that the ball was missing a leg and was not out. Along with Kohli, Yashasvi Jaiswal was the one who put in the most effort in the nets.
Reports also claimed that Virat Kohli also faced the tall Gurnoor Brar in the nets and looked a bit uncomfortable. The fast bowler made the batsman jump at first. But soon after, he settled down and read it better. After that, he played authoritative and intent-filled shots against him.
Virat Kohli plays with the bowlers positively in the net session
Reports added that Virat Kohli did not go easy on the bowlers. The batsman showed no caution while facing the bowling duo of Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin. He batted for 15 minutes and after that, he concluded the session by coming out to them twice and dispatching them with some vigorous blows.
With the kind of performance Virat Kohli displayed in the net sessions, he is expected to set the stage on fire in the Test series.
This was India’s second session after September 14. The players took a break on Sunday but all 16 turned up with 48 hours to go before the start of the series. It will be a great opportunity for them to consolidate their position at the top of the World Test Championship.
