IND vs BAN: Watch: Yuzvendra Chahal bowls Wayne Madsen out with a peach and sends a strong message to selectors with his 5-wicket haul

Indian national cricket team leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal is showing his talent in the County Championship. The veteran spinner is making an appearance in the tournament for Northamptonshire and has been putting in a decent effort with the ball for his side.

Yuzvendra Chahal, who is playing for Northamptonshire in his second stint at the county, made sure he made a big impact with the ball for his side in the match against Derbyshire. The match between the two teams will be held in Northampton.

Yuzvendra Chahal made a huge impact for his team and ensured that he put them in the top position. The leg-spinner exuded his class with the ball and ensured that he made an impact even in the English conditions, which are not suited for leg-spinners.

Chahal put together a brilliant five-wicket haul. Of all the wickets he captured, Wayne Madsen’s scalp caught the attention of many. The wrist bowler put in a magical effort which the batsman did not realise and had to walk long to the pavilion.

Chahal bowled a ball that was in line with the leg stump and the batsman played the line of the ball and tried to defend. However, the spin of the ball undid him as it hit the leg stump and left the batsman stunned and sent him to the ground.

This was Wayne Madsen’s crucial wicket as the batsman was in control of one end of the pitch for the team. He played an innings of 47 runs and the way he was batting, it looked like he was going to get a big knock. But thanks to the bowling of Yuzvendra Chahal, Northamptonshire came back into the game.

Chahal returned with figures of 5 for 45. His brilliant effort with the ball helped Northamptonshire seal a 54-run lead in the first innings. The opposition was batting comfortably and at one stage were 150/4. However, they came under pressure as they lost their last six wickets for just 15 runs.

Yuzvendra Chahal made his county debut for Northamptonshire against Kent in the One-Day Cup last month. He made an immediate impact by taking five wickets. After that, he played for the team in red-ball cricket but could not make an immediate impact in the format.

Chahal took just one wicket in his first first-class match against Middlesex and then went wicketless against Gloucestershire. However, by taking a five-wicket haul, his confidence would be sky-high heading into the County Championship.

Yuzvendra Chahal last played an international match for India in 2023. However, after that, he failed to make it into the squad. He was part of the squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup but did not get to play a single match and was then again sidelined.
