Indian national cricket team opener Yashasvi Jaiswal did not have a big practice session on Monday (September 16) ahead of the first Test against the Bangladesh national cricket team. The opening game of the series between the teams will begin on September 19 in Chennai.

After a day off on Sunday, the Indian national cricket team had an intense practice session on Monday (September 16). The batsmen had a tough day with the bat as they faced the mighty Jasprit Bumrah, who was at his peak in the practice session ahead of the first Test against Bangladesh.

One player who suffered from Jasprit Bumrah’s masterclass was young Jaiswal. According to reports in PTI and Indian Express, it is learnt that Yashasvi Jaiswal struggled to get going against the top-order batsman, who repeatedly taunted the opening batsman.

Jasprit Bumrah had the Jaiswal batsman tipped over at the net. Not only that, but the young batsman was repeatedly hit from both sides by the fast bowler. And as it happened, Virat Kohli, who was in the side nets, was watching it and then took the youngster out for a chat.

Virat Kohli was seen showing Yashasvi Jaiswal how to shoulder his arms and leave the balls long. They were engaged in a small conversation and after that, the young batsman went back to his guard but nothing changed as he once again struggled against Jasprit Bumrah who showed no mercy.

Gautam Gambhir takes Yashasvi Jaiswal into the net area and brings him down face first.

Watching Jaiswal struggle against the fast bowler, head coach Gautam Gambhir intervened and was seen having a conversation with a young batsman. The coach then took the opening batsman to the net area where he faced takedowns with all his concentration on getting behind the line of the ball.

Not only did Jaiswal struggle against Jasprit Bumrah, but he was repeatedly tested by Akash Deep, Mohammed Siraj and net bowler Yudhvir Singh. Akash, in particular, gave the young batsman trouble with the delivery that was moving outside off. This, in turn, prompted Gautam Gambhir to step in and have a separate session with the youngster.

Yashasvi Jaiswal’s struggle against the fast-pacers in the net session ahead of the Test series against Bangladesh will be a major concern for the team. Given that the opposing team has quality fast-pacers in their ranks, it will certainly be a tough challenge for the young opening batsman.

Expectations were surely high for Yashasvi Jaiswal, who took centre stage in India’s latest Test series against the England National Cricket Team. The batsman looked every bit the first-class player as he amassed 712 runs, including two double hundreds.

Jaiswal will be hoping to make a similar impact in the upcoming series. He will have a couple of days to correct his mistakes before the first match begins at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
