According to a Cricbuzz report, the Sahara Park Newlands pitch is set to face condemnation and may also face sanctions from the International Cricket Council (ICC). The ground held the shortest Test match in the history of international cricket.

The Sahara Park Newlands pitch in Cape Town, which witnessed India’s historic victory over South Africa, had to face a lot of criticism. The match ended in less than two days as India registered their first Test victory in Cape Town. The Rohit Sharma-led team was able to level the two-match Test series at 1-1 and also recorded its best performance in a Test series in South Africa in the last 14 years.

The ICC is expected to impose some demerit points at the Sahara Park Newlands ground and there is also a possibility of Indian captain Rohit Sharma facing some sanctions for comments he made at the ICC and Newlands ground after the match.

Match umpire Chris Broad, a former England batsman, has the option of rating the pitch as poor or unfit. Plots of land can earn a total of six ratings including very good, good, average, below average, poor and unsuitable.

There is no question when releases receive very good, good or average ratings; Soft action is imposed on the field if you receive below-average grades. However, action can be tough if you get a poor or unfit rating and the same is expected in the case of Sahara Park Newlands.

indian captain Rohit Sharma he was very angry with the critics who criticized the Indian fields for their changing nature. Rohit claimed that he does not mind playing at courses like Newlands as long as critics keep their mouths shut about Indian courses.

Rohit Sharma slams Newlands release

Rohit Sharma He said in the post-match press conference, “We all saw what happened in this test match and how the field was played. Honestly, I don’t mind playing on courses like these, as long as everyone in India keeps their mouths shut and doesn’t talk about Indian courses.”

“That is my judgment, my opinion and I will stand by it. I’ve seen enough cricket and enough about how these match officials and the ICC analyze these ratings. I have no problem with your rating, but stay neutral.”

The Indian team beat South Africa by 55 runs during their first innings, while India also scored 153 runs and took a lead of 98 runs over the Proteas. While the hosts ended Day 1 at 62/3 in their second innings, they finished with 176 runs and surrendered a target of 79 runs to win the match. India chased down the score with seven wickets to spare.

Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah were the architects of India’s victory at Newlands as they picked up 6 wickets each in both innings. If India had been chasing anything more than 100 runs, then they might have found it difficult to reach the score.
