IND vs ENG: Prasidh Krishna suffers injury during Ranji Trophy match, ruled out for next England Test series

Young Indian pacemaker Prasidh Krishna suffered a quadriceps injury while representing Karnataka in the Ranji Trophy on Friday. Prasidh Krishna’s injury led to his exclusion from the Indian team during the first two Tests against England in the five-match home series.

Prasidh Krishna suffered his injury during the match against Gujarat at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. He bowled just 14.5 overs in the first innings before leaving the field on Day 1. Unfortunately, PTI reported that he would not be taking part in the match.

Prasidh Krishna currently under the supervision of the Karnataka team

The 27-year-old pacer is currently under the care of the Karnataka team’s physiotherapist. As a BCCI contracted player, he has the option of joining India A’s support staff, which is also present in Ahmedabad. The typical recovery time for a quadriceps injury is four to six weeks.

Prasidh Krishna made his Test debut during India’s recent tour of South Africa, which concluded with a 1-1 draw. He turned in below-par performances in both Test matches, securing just two wickets at an average of 65 and a disappointing economy rate of 4.64.

Jasprit Bumrah to lead India’s pace bowling attack against England

Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Mukesh Kumar and Avesh Khan have been named fast bowlers for the upcoming Test series against England. Mohammed Shami, recovering from an injury, could not join the team, while Shardul Thakur was left out.

The Test series will begin in Hyderabad from January 25 to 29. The second match will be played in Visakhapatnam from February 2 to 6. The remaining matches are scheduled for Rajkot (February 15-19), Ranchi (February 23-27) and Dharamshala (March 7-11).

Team India for first 2 Tests: Rohit Sharma (C), Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul (WK), KS Bharat (WK), Dhruv Jurel (WK), Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohd. Siraj, Mukesh Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah (VC), Avesh Khan.

Prasidh Krishna has the tools – Rohit Sharma

In the press conference after the first Test against South Africa, captain Rohit Sharma backed Prasidh Krishna despite his lackluster debut. Rohit expressed confidence in Prasidh’s ability to excel in Test cricket.

“Look, a little inexperienced, of course, but he has the tools to come here and play. The bowlers we have in India, some are injured and some are not available. “So we try to pick the players that are available and we look at the conditions we face and we try to pick the players based on that.” Rohit said.

“I completely agree that he hasn’t played much cricket, but there are also three guys in his team who haven’t played much cricket; “They came here and showed what it takes.” added the captain.

Krishna faced a challenging outing in the T20I series against Australia. The fast bowler recorded the worst bowling figures by an Indian in the shortest format. He concluded with figures of 4-0-68-0 during the third T20I at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati.
