Team India will hold a four-day camp to prepare for the Test series against England. As per Cricbuzz reports, it is learned that the Rohit Sharma-led team will meet on January 20 in Hyderabad ahead of the first Test.
The first Test between India and England will begin on January 25 at the Uppal Stadium in Hyderabad. Players have been told to arrive at the location on the 20th and as soon as they land, they will go under a network session, it is reported.
Reports added that Virat Kohli will also join the camp on the 20th, but after his net session on January 21, he will be given a day’s rest. The batsman will attend the Consecration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya on the 22nd and for this he received permission from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
Indian players who are part of the squad for the T20I series against Afghanistan will have a two-day break once the ongoing series concludes. The last match will be played on January 17 in Bengaluru and after two days they will join the Test team on the 20th.
Reports claim that all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has already started his preparations for the Test series against England. He arrived at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) and canceled all his business commitments and publicity shoots to prepare for the series.
After the first match in Hyderabad, the second match between India and England will be played from February 2 in Visakhapatnam and the third match will be played in Rajkot from February 15. The last two matches will be played on February 23 and March 7 in Ranchi and Dharamshala respectively.
The series between the teams will be crucial for both sides in the context of the ICC World Test Championship. Both teams have faced some disappointing losses and hope to win as many games as possible in the series.
IND vs ENG: The England team will arrive in India on January 21
The Ben Stokes-led England cricket team will arrive in India just four days before the series. They will land on January 21 after training in Abu Dhabi. The Three Lions have been working hard in the Gulf nation to get used to the conditions of the subcontinent.
However, his late arrival in India did not sit well with former cricketer Steve Harmison. He believes that England will be the one to receive the 5-0 win because you cannot travel to India without being prepared. Speaking to radio station talkSport’s Follow On podcast, he said:
“I’m an old man and that’s what they’re going to say, times have changed. But the preparation has not changed. You cannot go to India without being well prepared, you cannot go to India too prepared. “You could be in India six weeks early and still not be ready for that first test and the excitement that comes with it.”
England are the only team to have defeated India in the test series at home since 2010. They achieved the feat during the 2012 tour and will be hoping to achieve the same this time. Under the leadership of Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum, it will be interesting to see how they approach this challenge.
