India’s wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson spoke about his selection for the T20 World Cup 2024. He spoke about how being a part of the dressing room that has Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli lifts up the players and motivates them to win games for India.
After struggling a lot over the last few years, Sanju Samson will be playing in the World Cup for the first time for the Indian team. He was selected in the squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup as one of the team’s two goalkeepers, having performed exceptionally well in the 2024 IPL.
Sanju Samson had a sensational outing in the IPL for the Rajasthan Royals. The wicketkeeper-batsman batted with great maturity and showed what he was capable of. He led from the front and led his team to the playoffs with his great leadership and magnificent hitting.
Sanju Samson, who scored 531 runs in 15 innings at a strike rate of 153.47, would now be eager to make an impact for Team India and help the team win the World Cup. Along with legends Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, he will be a vital part of his team.
Sanju Samson said to join the team India for the 2024 T20 World Cup has been a completely different feeling for him. He said that he was lucky to be at this stage that many people dream of. He added that now he is focused on doing the sessions well. Speaking to BCCI, he stated:
“From the moment I landed here, the IPL was completely off and it is a completely different stage. I say to myself Sanju, you are in a place that I think many people dream of.
“And then it’s like, well, boss, what else do I have to do? I need to go to the gym session, I need to recover, I need to do the practice sessions. And mentally it was like I didn’t have to motivate myself.”

Sanju Samson, while appreciating his selection in the team, spoke about the impact of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in the dressing room. He said that after watching the two greats of Indian cricket, he thinks about what he can do to win matches for the team. He explained:
“It was like things were automatically supposed to happen and were happening. And then actually when you get into the atmosphere when you meet Mr. Rohit Sharma, Mr. Virat Kohli. You look at them and then you get inspired, then you get motivated.
“And then you don’t have to look back, but only look forward. How can Sanju Samson help the Indian team win more matches? I think it’s always been about understanding what it takes to be a World Cup cricketer for an Indian team. And I think about how much I want it. I am very very grateful for the support I receive wherever we go. I am very grateful,” He concluded.
