IND vs PAK: ICC to take major action amid claims India vs Pakistan moved out of New York due to launch controversy

The much-awaited clash between India and Pakistan in the T20 World Cup 2024 is scheduled to take place on Sunday (June 9). The match between the two arch-rivals will take place at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.

Ahead of the clash between India and Pakistan in the 2024 T20 World Cup, the pitch at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York underwent a massive scan. The surface is under scanner due to uneven bounce and even injured players have been seen.

During the match between India and Ireland, Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant took a lot of hits on the board and the Indian captain left the field when he retired injured. On the other hand, the keeper-batsman looked very sore but fought hard to take his team home.

Not only the uneven bounce, but also the pitch at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York has seen a lot of movement off the surface. It has been lethal for the batsmen as the fast bowlers looked unplayable and took a lot of wickets.

It was analyzed for the first time after the match between Sri Lanka and South Africa. The island nation conceded just 77, while the Proteas team took 16 overs to chase the target and also lost 4 wickets along the way, which speaks to how difficult it was to bat.

The International Cricket Council also released the official statement regarding the pitch at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York. They said the surface hasn’t played as consistently as they would have liked, but outfielders are working hard to improve the surface.

“T20 Inc. [the organising committee] and the ICC recognize that the pitches used so far at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium have not played as consistently as we would all have liked. “The world-class fielding team has been working hard since the end of yesterday’s match to remedy the situation and provide the best possible surfaces for the remaining matches.”

But with the India vs Pakistan match around the corner, there has been a lot of speculation about the pitch. There were even rumors that the International Cricket Council would move the game between the two arch-rivals out of the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.

India vs Pakistan match unlikely to be moved out of New York

With rumors of the game between the two arch-rivals leaving New York grabbing the headlines, a report in Times London stated that the India vs Pakistan game is unlikely to be moved and played at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium.

It is known that such nature of the court was due to grass streaks on the track, but the courts have now been resurfaced and leveled to try to lessen the impact of the streaks. This will push the grass in as you roll the wicket and allow the ball to hit a flatter surface and therefore play better.
