Former India pacer Zaheer Khan has hailed South African star Kagiso Rabada as one of the best fast bowlers of this generation. His comments came after the pacer’s starring role in the first Test between South Africa and India at the SuperSport Park in Centurion.

Kagiso Rabada starred as the Proteas thrashed India by an innings and 32 runs in three days to take an unassailable lead in the two-match series. In the first innings, he picked up five wickets, dismissing the likes of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer to help his team defeat India for just 245. In the second innings, he gave his team a good start by castling Rohit . with a beauty.

During the game, he also joined the elite list of 500 wickets in international cricket. The 28-year-old became only the third South African to take 500 wickets in all formats before his 29th birthday. In Tests, he took 287 wickets in 61 matches at an average of 22.11. In ODIs, he has acquired 157 wickets in 101 matches, while in T20Is he has 58 wickets in 56 games.

Zaheer Khan praises Kagiso Rabada:

Speaking to Cricbuzz, Zaheer Khan said that Kagiso Rabada is one of the best in the world. He also backed South Africa’s spearhead to improve with experience.

“He can certainly be considered one of the best in the world,” said Zaheer Khan when asked if the Proteas star is the best pacer of this generation.

“Achieving such remarkable success in such a short time is commendable; 500 international wickets is a major milestone. He still has a lot of time ahead of him. With experience it will continue to improve. Maintaining his fitness will contribute to better performances because, along with experience, he understands bowling and the game itself quite well,” he added.

Kagiso Rabada will be in action this week when he leads his team’s bowling attack in the second Test against India in Cape Town. The match is scheduled to begin on January 3. A draw will be more than enough for South Africa to win the series.
