South African legend Allan Donald was amazed by Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj’s sensational ball performance in the recently concluded Cape Town Test. He believes a fast bowler is a revelation with the ball and has a great attitude.
India beat South Africa by 7 wickets to register their first Test victory in Cape Town. The main reason behind them scripting the story was none other than pacer Mohammed Siraj, who oozed class and bowled for centuries.
Mohammed Siraj bowled impeccable lines and lengths and taunted the South African batsmen. India were asked to field first and thanks to Siraj they put in an outstanding performance with the ball, not letting the batsmen settle down at all.
Mohammed Siraj tore through the South African batting and picked up 6 wickets in no time. He only needed 9 overs to wreak havoc and record the best figures of his career. His sensational spell saw India bundle out Africa in just 55 runs.
Mohammed Siraj took 9 wickets in the game and was one of the key architects behind India’s famous victory. His first innings spell almost sealed the game for India in the first innings.
Allan Donald recalled Mohammed Siraj’s performance in Bangladesh and said he was elated to see him putting the same energy into every ball. The Proteas great added that the fast bowler has tremendous skill and a huge heart and urged the Indian pacer not to switch. Speaking to Sportstar, he explained:
“Yes, absolutely. I have been very careful watching India bring out some young quicks and the one who has just taken six for 15 (Mohammed Siraj in the first innings of the Cape Town Test) is a revelation. I think when I was in Bangladesh, and when India played a Test series there and in Dhaka, it was good to see the way he (Siraj) ran every ball.
“I think he has a great attitude. She has tremendous skill and a huge heart. “We always talk about this white line fever, and this guy, to me, just won’t take a step back.”

Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah played magnificently well in the two-Test series against South Africa. They played well as a pair and helped India tie the series. If Siraj picked 6 wickets in the first innings, Bumrah bagged 6 scalps in the second essay.
Allan Donald said Mohammed Siraj’s association with Jasprit Bumrah is sublime. He is sure that more pacers like this duo will emerge from India, which is fantastic. He added:
“And I think partnering with Jasprit Bumrah, and they’re both just sublime, absolutely sublime. I know that more and more will come to India. There are many still sitting at home and knocking on the door. It’s fantastic.”
This was the first time since 2010-11 that India drew the series in South Africa. They lost the first game by a huge margin of innings and 32 runs, but made a strong comeback in the second game, which ended in 2 days.
