Former Indian wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel gave a humble reply to a fan who commented on his subtle post for wicketkeeper-batsman KL Rahul.
The much-awaited test series between India and South Africa Only one day left now. The match will be played at Centurion’s Supersport Park on December 26. The Indian combination for the match has almost kept everyone interested but it has been confirmed who will be the goalkeeper.
Indian coach Rahul Dravid confirmed that KL Rahul will be the team’s goalkeeper in the two Tests. The right-hander will keep wickets for the first time in Tests and it will be difficult for him. This is because he has been bowling limited overs, but to do a job in Tests it takes a lot.
When Rahul Dravid confirmed that KL Rahul will keep wickets, Parthiv Patel reacted quickly. The former Indian wicketkeeper made a valid point and said that in the trials the wicketkeeper should be someone who has done that job regularly in the Ranji Trophy.
Taking to his account X, he explained: “India’s test match wicket-keeper should be someone who regularly participates in ranji trophy or first-class cricket…”

India has two goalkeepers in the team – KL Rahul and KS Bharat. The latter was added to the team after Ishan Kishan was unavailable for the series. But since Rahul was more skilled with the bat, it was almost certain that he would play.
KL Rahul has impressed many with his keeping skills in the last few months. He has been spot on with his reception behind the stumps and his correct calls to the DRS have been the highlight of his stay. But keeping it for longer periods will be a big challenge for him.
Also, since the red ball has more moments than the white ball, it will be another challenge for KL Rahul behind the stumps to judge the ball. A lot would depend on him, since a goalkeeper in Tests has the key to many things.

After Parthiv Patel’s post related to the Indian goalkeeper of the first game, a fan responded to him and insulted him. The cricket lover highlighted how regular wicketkeeper like Patel missed many catches during the 2018 tour of South Africa.

Parthiv Patel was part of the Indian team for the Test series against South Africa. He had a decent outing on that tour as he batted and stayed well. However, after that series, he was kicked off the team and he did not appear again.
