The year 2023 has been an absolute dream for the young opener of the Indian cricket team, Shubman Gill. Gill turned out to be the leading run-scorer in the year 2023 and scored 2154 runs in 48 matches at a strike rate of 101.22. Gill is currently part of the Indian cricket team touring South Africa and scored 2 and 26 runs in the first Test of the two-match Test series.
As the year is about to end, Shubman Gill shared a glimpse of the resolutions he made to fulfill in the year 2023. Gill shared an Instagram post and revealed that he wanted to score the most hundreds in the year 2023, win the World Cup . , make his family happy and also win the orange cap of the IPL.
Shubman Gill has achieved most of his resolutions as he won the orange cap of IPL 2023 and scored 890 runs in 16 matches while playing for the Gujarat Titans. Gill played in the ODI World Cup for India and reached the final of the tournament, but unfortunately, India could not win the trophy. Gill’s family is very proud of the milestones he has achieved this year. However, Gill (7) did not reach the highest number of tons in 2023 and was just one ton behind Virat Kohli (8).
Shubman Gill reveals his goals for 2023
Shubman Gill wrote in his Instagram post: “Exactly a year ago, I released it into the universe. With 2023 coming to an end, the year has been full of experiences, lots of fun and other great learnings. The end of the year did not go as planned, but I can proudly say that we were very close to our goals, giving everything we had. The coming year brings its own challenges and opportunities. Hopefully, we will get closer to our goals in 2024. I hope everyone finds love, joy and strength in everything they do.”
As the year 2024 approaches, Shubman Gill will want to start the year with a century when he plays against South Africa in Cape Town in the second Test of the series. Gill could not perform well in the first match and scored only 28 runs.
Shubman Gill will also lead the Gujarat Titans in the 2024 edition of the Indian Premier League and will be tasked with maintaining GT’s high-performance standard in the IPL. This will also be the first time that Gill will be captain in his entire cricket career. Gill was India’s vice-captain in the 2018 U-19 World Cup.
Shubman Gill will once again have the responsibility of leading India to their second T20 World Cup when India participates in the 2024 edition of the tournament. The Indian team has not won any ICC tournament in the last 10 years and won the last ICC title in the year 2013.
Shubman Gill did not perform well during the ODI World Cup 2023 and scored only 354 runs in nine matches at an average of 44.25. His highest score was 92 runs.
Shubman Gill has not been able to prove himself in the red-ball format and will aim to do the same in the year 2024.
