KL Rahul achieved his exceptional best with the bat in the ongoing first Test against South Africa. The first match of the two-match series between the teams will be played at the Supersport Park in Centurion.
The first innings of the game revolved around KL Rahul. The wicketkeeper-batsman was the shining light for his team and it was a one-man show from him as he played magnificent innings. This allowed India to have a decent total on the board and finish the first innings on a high.
While his class with the bat was incomparable, KL Rahul also showed great presence of mind. This was evident during India’s 66th innings when Gerald Coetzee was bowling and making an effort to keep Prasidh Krishna on strike.
During the third ball of the over, Gerald Coetzee bowled a full toss to Prasidh Krishna but it went down the leg side. Goalkeeper Kyle Verreynne collected the ball cleanly but didn’t have his eyes on the field when he flicked the ball to second slip.
KL Rahul grabbed the opportunity, took a sneaky dismissal and took the run quite comfortably. This did not sit well with pacer Gerald Coetzee, who was furious with goalkeeper Kyle Verreynne and reacted angrily:

Two deliveries later, KL punished South Africa for their carelessness behind the wicket. The keeper-batsman hit a big six off the last ball of the over and brought up his ton. He needed 133 balls to reach the milestone.
This was KL Rahul’s seventh ton in overseas conditions. She stood firm in defense of India when no one was there. She got India out of trouble and made sure to help them get over 250 on the board, which at one point did not seem possible at all.
KL Rahul finished with 101 runs off 137 balls. He hit 14 fours and 4 sixes in his innings. His innings helped India post a total of 245 runs on the board. The knock has significant value because at one point India were reeling at 107/5 with all the big boys in the cabin.
IND vs SA: His footwork looked precise and sure: Sachin Tendulkar praises KL Rahul for his ton
Batting great Sachin Tendulkar was amazed by KL Rahul’s ton in the ongoing Test against South Africa. The former Indian captain praised the wicketkeeper-batsman’s footwork and highlighted the importance of his stroke. Taking X account of him, he explained:
“Well played @klrahul. What impressed me was his clarity of thought. His footwork looked precise and sure, and that happens when a batsman thinks correctly. This century is crucial in the context of this Test. “India would be happy with 245 considering where they were at any given time yesterday.”

Coming into the match, after India had posted a total of 245 runs on the board, they had a decent outing with the ball in the first innings. Mohammed Siraj removed Aiden Markam for 5 runs, while Jasprit Bumrah, at the other end, troubled the batsmen with his impeccable lines and lengths.
At lunch on Day 2, South Africa were 49/1. They trail India by 196 runs. The way things are going, it promises to be an exciting second session of the day.
