The pitch was expected to be dry: Ravichandran Ashwin

“Very good performance. There was moisture on the grass in the first session. He slowed down and began to spin some more. He slowed down a lot. I personally enjoyed my first spell and had to adjust a bit more afterward. I wasn’t surprised by the pitch, I expected it to be a bit dry. On my previous tours of the West Indies, when it turns, it also tends to be slow.” Ashwin said.

The senior spinner further spoke about evolution as a player in this modern age of Test cricket and also how to adapt to bowling in different conditions.

“(Evolve over the game) It is the most important trait to be an international cricketer. With so many leagues, we can get carried away with league performances, but international cricket is all about improving all the time. (Jaiswal) He just did a reverse sweep with the first ball off the last! That’s what you can expect from him. It’s very vibrant, I hope it goes far. For our part, we hope the environment is good for him.” Ashwin said.
