Gautam Gambhir, a former Indian cricketer and teammate of Yuvraj Singh, recently expressed his opinion that Yuvraj Singh is the greatest batsman in Indian white ball history. Gambhir praised Yuvraj’s ability to perform under pressure and win crucial matches for India.
Yuvraj Singh had a remarkable white ball career, scoring 8,701 runs in ODI and 1,177 runs in T20I. He played a crucial role in India’s victorious World Cup campaign in 2011, where he was named the player of the tournament for his all-round performance.

Gautam Gambhir believes that despite Yuvraj Singh being a key factor in India’s two world championship victories, he was underestimated by the media compared to other players. Even according to Gambhir, Yuvraj is the best Indian white ball batsman ever.

While speaking to News18, Gambhir, who top-scored in the 2007 World T20 final and then the 2011 ODI World Cup final, said: “He (Yuvraj) was a brilliant player. I’ll call him underrated because the media didn’t praise him enough for his performances like they did others. The two world cup titles that India has won are thanks to him. For me, the best batsman in the history of Indian cue ball is Yuvraj Singh.”

Yuvraj and Gambhir have been Gambhir’s teammates and opponents since they were young and according to Gambhir, no player is more talented than his former teammate from India.
“I have been playing with Yuvraj since the Under-16 days. He played for Punjab, I for Delhi. They will then play together at the Under-19 level, then play against each other in the Ranji Trophy. I have never come across a more talented player than him in India.” Gautama Gambhir said.

“Yuvraj would have broken several records” – Gautam Gambhir
Yuvraj was unable to duplicate his success in Test cricket, despite being one of India’s best players in white-ball formats. Gambhir, on the other hand, believes that Yuvraj was skilled enough to represent India in 100 Tests, but he was unlucky enough to play during a period when the team was crammed with world-class middle class bats.
“Unfortunately, he couldn’t play 100 Tests because he played in an era where Virender Sehwag, myself, Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman, Sourav Ganguly, MS Dhoni were part of the Test team. He could not find a place in the middle order of India. Yuvraj would have broken several records.”Gautama Gambhir said.

Yuvraj played 304 ODIs and 58 T20Is, scoring a total of 9878 runs. Between 2003 and 2012, he too played 40 Tests, scoring 1,900 runs, including three centuries and 11 half centuries.
