Australia national cricket team batsman Steve Smith has spoken about the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2025 against the Indian national cricket team. He admitted that the Rohit Sharma-led team has been playing good cricket and he is excited about the series.

The build-up to the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2025 between India and Australia has kept everyone excited. The top two teams in Test cricket will be taking on each other in the five-match Test series.

India and Australia have been engaged in intense battles in the last few years. The Rohit Sharma-led side has the upper hand over the rival as they have managed to outperform the Pat Cummins-led side both at home and away.

The upcoming Test series will be played in Australia and India’s record in the last two tours has been sensational. They won two consecutive series in Australia and many praised the style of cricket they played. Especially in the last tour, it was India’s second-string team that won the series because the main players got injured.

This time around, too, the series will be exciting. The battle between Indian batsmen and Australian batsmen will be a key factor. Steve Smith, in particular, will be vital to his team’s chances, as in the absence of the retired David Warner, he will have to play a key role.

Steve Smith believes that the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy will be a great series as both teams have played some great cricket in the last few years. He also stated that the Rohit Sharma-led team has been fantastic in the last two tours. Speaking to Star Sports, he explained:

“Yes, I’m very excited. It’s going to be a great series. India have been playing some exceptional cricket. We’ve been playing some really good cricket for the last two years. We haven’t beaten India the last two times they’ve come here,” Steve Smith said.

They are very, very difficult to beat – Steve Smith on India

Steve Smith further said that it is difficult to beat the Indian national cricket team and highlighted that they have beaten them both in India and Australia. He expressed his excitement about playing the series. He added:

“We’ve got a fantastic team. A very balanced team. All bases covered. So, you know, they’ve played some really good cricket here. “They’ve also played some good cricket when we’ve been in India, where we know they’re very, very tough to beat. So it’s going to be a great summer. It’s going to be exciting. And yeah, I’m looking forward to it.”

The five-match Test series between India and Australia will begin on November 22 in Perth. The focus will then shift to the second match, which will be played on a day-night basis in Adelaide from December 6.

India and Australia will next play at the Gabba in Brisbane from December 14 in the fourth Test. This will be followed by the Boxing Day Test at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) from December 26. The final match will be played in Sydney from January 3.
