Robin Singh, India vs England

Former India cricketer Robin Singh has picked his favorites for the T20 World Cup 2024 semi-final between India and England. He believes that the Rohit Sharma-led team has the advantage as they have all bases covered.

India and England will face each other in the semi-final of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024. The match between the Rohit Sharma-led team and the defending champions is scheduled for Thursday (June 27) at the Providence Stadium in Guyana.

Both India and England faced each other in the semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2022 and the Jos Buttler-led team defeated the Men in Blue by 10 wickets. However, after that World Cup, India under Rohit Sharma have been sensational and have adopted a completely different style of cricket.

In the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024, India has been unbeaten so far. The Rohit Sharma-led team has played an excellent brand of cricket and even though the conditions were difficult to bat in, they managed to find their way and win, beating all opponents by good margins so far.

England, on the other hand, have found themselves in trouble several times during the tournament, but each time they have been under pressure, they have put up a dominant show. They would also be very confident and would want to reach the second consecutive final.

With the match between the two teams just around the corner, Robin Singh highlighted India’s bowling combination and stated that they would be better suited for the Guyana pitch. He stated that Rohit Sharma and company need to counter Adil Rashid and Jofra Archer as then England would be under pressure. Speaking to IANS, he explained:

“I still think India has the advantage here. The bowling combination that India possesses would actually suit this place much more than England. The important factor for England is probably Jofra Archer and Adil Rashid. If India can counter those two guys, I think we can do some progress in this attack on England’s bowling.

“From an Indian perspective, I think they have most of the bases covered. The spinners have bowled well, they have really good attacking players in the middle, and Kuldeep Yadav has done exceptionally well. The other two spinners (Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja) ) have been very stable.”

India has the arsenal and equipment to adapt to these conditions much better than England – Robin Singh

Robin Singh further spoke about how important Jasprit Bumrah has been in the T20 World Cup 2024. He stated that during the last semi-final of the T20 World Cup, the conditions were different and this time the surface will suit India more than the defending. champions. Speaking about the same, he explained:

“Of course, you have the Bumrah factor as he is someone who can bowl at any stage of the game. So that will be another key component, just like the other fast bowlers who have stepped up. So, it will actually be , it’s fun it’s not just about one bowler, it’s about having a combination of bowlers who can put pressure on the batsmen to allow the other bowler to really maximize.

“At the end of the day, it is a collective effort, and it doesn’t matter who gets the wickets, right? But it is important as a team to strangle the opponents. Bumrah has already made a big difference and that is evident. So what?” “It is important to understand that the conditions are very different from those of 2022. I think India has the arsenal and the team to adapt to these conditions much better than England,” he concluded.
