Team India suffered a major injury on Monday (June 17) when their star batsman Suryakumar Yadav was hit on the hand.

The world’s number one T20I batsman suffered the knock while facing a delivery in the nets. Fortunately, he returned to bat shortly after the physical therapist applied a magic spray to his arm. India will hope the injury is not serious and he stays fit for the Super 8 games in the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.

There are still more than two days left before India play their first Super 8 game and they expect Suryakumar Yadav to be 100 per cent fit for the game.

The right-handed batsman scored a brilliant fifty in the previous match against the United States which helped India book their place in the Super 8. Chasing 110 in the testing conditions in New York, India got off to a poor start after once again losing the wickets of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli for little money. They were reeling at 39 for 3 in the eighth over before Suryakumar Yadav’s unbeaten 50-run knock took India home.

India Super 8 Schedule:

Team India will face Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Australia in the Super 8s for a place in the semi-final. The Rohit Sharma-led team will begin their Super 8 campaign against Afghanistan on June 20 in Barbados. It will be followed by matches against Bangladesh and Australia on June 22 and 24 respectively.

India have started their T20 World Cup campaign in dominant fashion and will look to continue the same form in the Super 8s as well. The Men in Blue began their campaign with an 8-wicket win over Ireland before beating arch-rivals Pakistan by 6 careers. This was followed by victory over the United States before the match against Canada was eliminated.
