India team for the last three tests against England Everything is set to be announced on Friday (February 9) as per Sports Tak reports. The reason behind this is that the team management and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) are waiting for the fitness reports of two of the key players.
The Indian team for the last three Tests against England was reportedly scheduled to be announced on February 8. However, it has now been delayed as the team management is yet to get complete updates on the fitness reports of Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul.
Both Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul were injured after the first Test and missed the second game. Reports suggested that both the players have been recovering well and could be in contention to play the third match, scheduled for February 15 in Rajkot.
There is a good chance that KL Rahul will be back in the mix for the third Test as he has recovered well from quadriceps pain. While the return of all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja will depend only on the team management evaluating his hamstring injury.
According to reports, Virat Kohli is very likely to miss the remaining three matches of the series against England. The batter has requested leave due to a family emergency. With him expected to be out, Rajat Patidar and Sarfaraz Khan are likely to retain their place in the team.
One of the key things to look out for is whether Shreyas Iyer will retain his place in the team or not. The batsman has been under a lot of fire due to his poor performance in Test cricket and it won’t be a surprise if he is dropped from the team, especially with KL Rahul set to return.
Shubman Gill was also under the firing line for his failures and there were calls to replace him from the team. But he returned to form in the latter innings of the last game. The batsman hit a magnificent ton and helped India win the game and level the five-match series 1-1.
Jasprit Bumrah expected to play India vs England 3rd Test
Since the last few days, there have been many reports that Jasprit Bumrah might be rested for the third match against England. This came on the back of his workload management, especially bowling around 58 overs in the first two games.
However, recent reports have suggested that Jasprit Bumrah will play the match as Rajkot’s pacers favor the surface. The team management wants him to be there for the third game, especially after the kind of impact he has had in the first two.
Jasprit Bumrah is India’s leading wicket-taker in the ongoing series. He has taken 15 wickets in two games so far. With surfaces that favor spin, he has exuded class and has been sensational. He recently became the world’s number one Test bowler.
