Johannesburg is ready to host India vs. South Africa 1st ODI after clashing with the 3rd T20I. The match will be played on Sunday from 1.30 pm IST. The next two matches will be played in Gqeberha on December 19 and in Paarl on December 21.

India heads into this series after leveling the T20I series. They will be led by KL Rahul and the coaching staff will also be different. Sitanshu Kotak and his NCA staff will take over coaching duties from Rahul Dravid, who will skip the ODI series to focus on the Test series.

India have recalled Yuzvendra Chahal and Sanju Samson to the Test side. Meanwhile, the senior players continue to rest and Deepak Chahar is also unavailable for the ODI series due to personal concerns. Shreyas Iyer will only play the first ODI, after which he will also play practice games.

South Africa will be led by Aiden Markram along with David Miller and Heinrich Klaasen. Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje remain out of the team due to injury problems. Nandre Burger, Ottneil Baartman, Keshav Maharaj, Tabraiz Shamsi and Lizaad Williams will be the bowlers of the series.

India and South Africa play a three-match ODI series followed by a two-match Test series. The T20I was preparing for next year’s T20 World Cup. India reached the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup 2022. They lost their league match against South Africa in the campaign. In total, in 91 ODIs, India won 38 matches and South Africa 50.

Johannesburg hosts the first ODI on Sunday, December 17. The venue has hosted nine ODIs so far with four matches won by the team that batted first and four that batted second. 275 is the average score in the first innings, while 190 is the second batting.

As for weather conditions, thunderstorms are expected in the morning with a temperature of around 29 degrees. There is a 40 percent chance of rain. The weather will improve in the afternoon. The rain is expected to clear by the afternoon, but morning rain could delay the start.
