India Women’s Squads For Bangladesh Series Announced, No Place For Renuka Singh, Richa Ghosh


The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the India teams for the upcoming white ball series between the India Women’s National Cricket Team and the Bangladesh Women’s National Cricket Team.

He India The Women’s Tour of Bangladesh 2023 consists of a three-match T20I series and a three-match ODI series. All six matches will be played at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) in Mirpur. The T20Is will be played from July 9-13 and the ODIs will be played from July 16-22.

Some big names have been missing from India’s squads for the Bangladesh series. Pacer Renuka Singh, wicketkeeper Richa Ghosh, all-rounder Shikha Pandey, all-rounder Radha Yadav and spinner Rajeshwari Gayakwad were left out of the squad.

Notably, the Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) has not given any clarity on the non-selection of the star players in the squad for the Bangladesh series.

Rashi Kanojiya, Anusha Bareddy, Minnu Mani Receive Maiden Calls

Up to three players have been called up for the first time for the series against Bangladesh. The players are Minnu Mani (T20I only), Anusha Bareddy (Andhra) and Rashi Kanojiya (Uttar Pradesh).

Left-arm pacer Monica Patel and batsman Priya Punia have again been included in the team, which will be led by star batsman Harmanpreet Kaur and his backup Smriti Mandhana.

The India Women’s National Cricket Team does not have a permanent head coach at this time. Following Ramesh Powar’s departure, Hrishikesh Kanitkar took over on an interim basis. Amol Muzumdar, Tushar Arothe and Jon Lewis are vying for the job and it is unclear if the appointment of the new head coach will be officially announced by BCCI before the Bangladesh series starts.
