His personal trainer spoke about the recent event.

Indian sensation Mayank Yadav, who was expected to be part of the Indian team that will travel to Australia for the upcoming Border Gavaskar Trophy, was not in the recently announced 18-member squad for the series.

After making his international debut in the series against Bangladesh, his performances were closely monitored by the BCCI and he was set to join the Indian team for the tour of Australia as a roaming reserve. Unfortunately, the young player was sidelined again due to injury.

However, it is now known that Mayank did not suffer a fresh injury but the Indian management has plans to use the speedster later.

Mayank’s personal trainer Devendra Sharma came forward and spoke about Mayank’s recent development.

Mayank Yadav out for an extended period

Speaking to The Telegraph, Devendra Sharma revealed: “It’s not that Mayank (currently at the BCCI Center of Excellence on the outskirts of Bengaluru) has suffered a fresh injury, but he has been advised not to play now as they are looking to have him back for the England ODIs (in January 2025).”

Mayank’s prospects looked promising after his India debut in the recent T20I series against Bangladesh, after which he was picked as a roaming reserve for the ongoing Test series against New Zealand. The Indian team coaching staff has been closely watching his red-ball bowling and he was also seen as a possible candidate for the T20I tour of South Africa scheduled for next month.

However, given the current scenario, Mayank is once again out and will not only miss the South Africa T20Is and Australia Tests but will once again have to be on the sidelines for an extended period.
