He eventually had to be carried off the field after the incident.

In a wicked twist of fate, a Nepali cricketer has horribly injured his leg moments after performing the iconic ‘shoe’ celebration in the ongoing U19 Asia Cup 2024.

Yuvraj Khatri, who wove the web around Bangladesh U19 with his incredible bowling, eventually had to be carried off the field after the incident as he could no longer walk.

Khatri finished the match with figures of 4/23 in the 6 overs he bowled, although it came in a lost cause as Bangladesh U19 won the contest by 5 wickets. However, Khatri’s efforts put pressure on the opposition batsmen and the Nepal spinner reached his 4-wicket haul with twin strikes (once in the 20th over and again in the 28th over).

In the 28th over, on the penultimate ball, the Nepal spinner sent Farid Hasan Faysal packing, knocking down the stumps as the batsman tried to sweep with the paddle. The ball passed the bat and hit the wood. On the next delivery, the spinner took another wicket, claiming two in the over.

Earlier, Nepal’s national under-19 cricket team struggled with the bat and was bowled out for just 141 runs. None of the players managed to make a significant contribution, with Akaash Tripathi leading the scoreboard with 43 runs, while the remaining batsmen could not surpass the 30-run mark.

Bangladesh comfortably chased down the target of 142 runs in just 29 overs.
